Duke’s Executive Cybersecurity Certificate Programs are guided by an Industry Advisory Board composed of senior executives and experienced practitioners. The board helps shape program strategy and curriculum to ensure our offerings remain relevant, rigorous, and aligned with the evolving cybersecurity challenges facing today’s organizations. Below, is a list of our current board members.
David Stone – Chair
David Stone is the Chair of the Duke Executive Cybersecurity Programs Industry Advisory Board. David leads the Financial Services team in Google Cloud Office of the CISO. He has been a member of the Office of the CISO at Google Cloud for three years and is passionate about protecting the security of the financial services industry. He helps advise industry groups, regulators, and security teams in order to protect the world in a “shared-fate” model and transform the industry. David has been a leader in cyber security across multiple industries including his last position serving as Financial Services CISO for Wholesale and Enterprise Technology where he protected trillions in annual payments and billions in assets under management. He has decades of experience across multiple verticals including as Global Director of Security Architecture, State/Local government, and National Security.
Shankar Babu Chebrolu – Vice Chair
Shankar Babu Chebrolu is a distinguished cybersecurity leader with over two decades of experience in security architecture, risk management, and cyber defense strategy. As the Director of Security Architecture at Red Hat, he has been instrumental in shaping enterprise security frameworks, ensuring resilient and scalable solutions for modern cloud and open-source environments. Beyond his corporate leadership, Shankar is deeply engaged in the cybersecurity community. He serves as the President & Co-founder of the Cloud Security Alliance Triangle Chapter, where he advocates for industry best practices and fosters collaboration among security professionals. His commitment to advancing cybersecurity education is further demonstrated through advisory roles, including his position as a Member of the Board of Advisors at the North Carolina Technology Association and an Advisory Board Member at the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Center for Cyber Defense Education. Shankar’s expertise extends to threat modeling and privacy, serving as a Founding Member of Threat Modeling Connect and a Principal Advisor on information security, privacy, and compliance. His previous experience includes senior security leadership positions at Adobe, Cisco, and Wells Fargo, where he developed comprehensive security architectures and risk mitigation strategies. With a passion for mentoring, thought leadership, and collaborative security innovation, Shankar continues to drive the future of cybersecurity, ensuring organizations remain ahead of evolving threats.
